Malcom Feistel, missionary
to Taiwan, stated that poor attendance or zero attendance can be discouraging to
the church planter. I view this as having false expectations. Most of the
discouragement that comes to most church planters who are just starting are
wrapped up in fals expectations.

>Why call it a Baptist Church?
Wouldn't Bible Church be less intimidating?
Malcom Feistel is
supported by our church and I am more glad about that everyday. He is a Baptist
with a capital B and a missionary to boot. He reveals some interesting
perspectives on church planting. Basically things are different on the field but
church planting from a biblical perspective does not change:

A sense of belonging

One of the greatest benefits has been to regain the
sense of belonging to the Fellowship through the discussion lists. We used to
feel very “out of the loop” before we were able to hear daily news and prayer
requests from supporting pastors and other missionaries.

Ruth Sterling with assistance from Chris Berdoll and Sandy Southwell
worked with Stacy Newton from Tree Folks and Carla Marshall from the Green
Classroom to write an award winning grant. This grant will provide funding
needed to build an outdoor classroom environment with a Backland Prairie
theme. The project will beautify the school grounds a sit teaches students
about science and being responsible with the environment. This project
compliments the Butterfly Garden and Pond Project, which was awarded to
Peg Feistel for Sematech last Spring. Keep your eyes on
Popham. We have wonderful programs that teach children as we
beautify our school campus.
escolar.

A Quotient for Success

As the saying goes, the greatest joy for a teacher is to be surpassed by
his pupil. Dr. Doyle Alexander has been surpassed by his former students
numerous times.
To put into perspective just how long Alexander has taught
at SFA, he has taught through every University president, with the exception of
the first one.
Among his former students are Ennis McCune and C.P. Barton,
both professors of math and statistics, and Roy Harris and
Robert
Fiestel, both assistant professors of math and statistics.
