Honor guard serves at ceremony for repatriated airman

Senior Airman Andrew Feistel, 393rd Bomb Squadron, played "Taps" at the ceremony. He joined Whiteman's 30-member Honor Guard team in February. "It's an honor to pay last respects to our heroes who fought in wars or served in the military," said Feistel, who participated in his first repatriation ceremony.

 Students hear perils of drinking, driving
Model visits school to share message

    DEARBORN -- It's easy for kids to become inundated with public service announcements about the evils of drinking and driving so Maria Brown is always looking for a new angle to get the point across.
   Brown, an eighth-grade language arts teacher at Stout Middle School, has Students Against Drunk Driving members meet after school to discuss goals, values and staying away from alcohol.
   She put a new twist on the sessions when she had Michael Frido, a budding pop singer and Tommy Hilfiger model, speak with all Stout students about drinking and driving.
   Frido came to Stout courtesy of Earth Jam, a promotion company of Warner Bros., which provides assemblies and performances at schools to promote the message that drinking and driving are a dangerous combination.
   A drunk driver killed Frido's father, and Frido wrote a song about the tragedy. He performed it and two others and spoke to students.
   "Michael Frido brought a very good message to our school," says Katie Feistel, a 14-year-old eighth-grader. "He taught us about how important it is to stay healthy and to not drink and drive."
