This is to Certify that it appears from the Records of this office, that on this day, to-wit:  the Eighth of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and 97 and the one hundredth and 21 of the Independence of the United States of America (Jan. 8 1897) was registered a marriage, celebrated in the City of New Orleans, La., by A. J. C. Nieger on the 31 day of December 1896 between
  Armand Gauglitz (38 years) a native of Germany, son of Armand Gauglitz and Christine Feistel and
  Miss Luella F. Althaus (22 years) a native of New Orleans, La. daughter of Julius Althaus and Charlotte Hickmann. 
The celebration of the marriage was performed in the presence of the witnesses Mrs. J. C. Rieger, Wm. J. Scheffer.  The License was issued on the 31 day of December 1896 by Hon. P. Henry Lanauze in the presence of the witnesses Wm. J. Schaffer.  License Returned and Filed, Book No. 37, Folio 226
